The Los Angeles labor movement continues to fight and win on behalf of the working people of Los Angeles. Currently, members of our Building Trades affiliates are facing rates of unemployment that fall anywhere between 20% to 50%. The LA County Fed, LA/OC Building Trades Council, and LAANE have been working together to put people back to work. We organized our local elected officials to do the right thing by ensuring that when public funds are used on construction projects, good jobs should be created through union representation. HISTORIC VICTORY! EXPO LINE PHASE 2 GUARANTEES MORE GOOD JOBS In a historic win for the L.A. Labor movement, the Expo Rail Line Authority voted last week to enter into negotiations with the LA/OC Building Trades for a Project Labor Agreement (PLA) for Expo Line Phase 2 project. Phase 2 of the Expo Line is a $1.5 billion dollar project. It is the first time any Los Angeles County transit authority has ever voted to move forward with a PLA on a public transit project. This historic victory was made possible through the combined efforts of the LA/OC Building Trades Council, the L.A. County Fed, LAANE, and several community partners. Expo Line Phase 2 will connect riders in downtown Los Angeles and Santa Monica. BUILDING MOMENTUM! PORT OF LOS ANGELES TO HOLD CRITICAL VOTE JUNE 17TH The L.A.
